Early Detection Awareness Garlands

Megan Benson started Sheep Farm Felt in 2014 as a way to spread her love of color and wool.  During her children’s' nap time, she would sit at her dining room table and use warm soapy water to felt little balls from wool from her family's sheep farm and then string them into garlands.  After about 6 months of selling her felt garlands on Etsy, demand outgrew her supply and she partnered with a fair-trade company from Nepal to help her make her felt balls.  The company has now grown to 6 employees and sells on Etsy and Amazon, and the fair trade group has been able to hire more skilled women artisans because of their demand.  Sheep Farm Felt has been featured in Martha Stewart Living Magazine, Rachael Ray Everyday Magazine, Instagram, celebrity nurseries, and is a Featured Artisan in Amazon Handmade.

In March of 2020, at age 38, Megan was diagnosed with Stage 2A breast cancer.  She wanted to spread awareness about the disease to her followers on Instagram, and found the Know your Lemons App, which was the perfect tool to spread awareness and education.  Megan designed the wool felt Lemon Garland, in hopes that it would remind her customers to check their "lemons", as well as use some of the proceeds to donate to the Know Your Lemons Foundation to help further their cause in educating women around the world about the signs of breast cancer.

Sheep Farm Felt donated $2 from every garland sold to Know Your Lemons Foundation. After selling out, the donation from Sheep Farm Felt was $500! We are so honored to work with such a wonderful & thought driven company.
